In Business, a common definition for the term “Joint Ventures” is “business projects in which two or more independent companies collaborate and share the risks and rewards.”

In Internet Marketing, a Joint Venture … or JV, for short … is often little more than an endorsed mailing, the promotional partner most often being tracked and compensated as a privileged affiliate … generally given perks over the average affiliate partner such as higher commissions, entry into closed affiliate program, tiered rewards, participation in contests, complimentary product access, personalized promo tools, and more.

Reciprocation is usually part of the agreement, as well.

I personally recommend that all Internet Marketers involve themselves in Joint Ventures, though one should be at least reasonably successful and grounded before thinking themselves attractive to potential partners … and even then, potential JV relationships should be pursued one at a time in friendship via networking, first … trust and credibility go a long way in relation to JV involvement and follow through.
